Woman lifting child into the air

What’s Causing the Pain?

Women are used to back pain. We carry children during pregnancy and lift them throughout their childhood. We tote bags of playsand, haul many pounds of groceries, and regularly push mops and brooms. Many women also need physical strength for work outside the home as workers in construction, manufacturing, retail, or healthcare. No wonder our backs hurt!

Chronic backache from musculoskeletal causes is often self-treated with over-the-counter pain relievers and some rest. However, if your current back pain feels different from previous episodes of muscle strain, it’s time to seek medical help to determine the cause. Specifically, gender related issues such as a urinary tract infection, ovarian cyst, uterine fibroid, or endometriosis could be at the root of the problem.

Dr. Amy Siegel specializes in gynecology and can diagnose and treat these “female” problems. If the problem is muscular or needs care from another specialist, Dr. Siegel can assist you in finding help. Hackensack UMG | Primary Care has a wide network of excellent providers across a full range of specialties. To make an appointment with Dr. Siegel, call: 201-225-2555.
