Weaving the Stories of Women’s Lives
Women’s lives are a tapestry woven of threads from the past that help create the pattern for the future. In 1987, Congress established Women’s History Month in March as a tribute to women whose dedication and commitment have resulted in positive changes for the country and the world.
The organizers of Women’s History Month said in part: “Knowing women’s achievements challenges stereotypes and upends social assumptions about who women are and what women can accomplish today. There is real power in hearing women’s stories, both personally and in a larger context. Remembering and recounting tales of our ancestors’ talents, sacrifices, and commitments inspires today’s generations and opens the way to the future.”
Each and every women has a story to tell. Let’s make sure we listen to and learn from each other.
